Dr. Bahram Barati | Environmental Biotechnologist | Marie Curie Fellow | Microalgae Innovator
I am a proud alumni of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral program from Ghent University (Belgium), where I specialized in environmental biotechnology and solutions for the circular economy. Holding a Ph.D. in Marine Biotechnology, I have accumulated over ten years of research experience across Malaysia, China, and Europe, concentrating on cutting-edge microalgae-based technologies for wastewater treatment, CO₂ sequestration, and bioproduct recovery. Recently, I have been leading the EU-funded WWTBP-by-Microalgae initiative, where I am developing an integrated platform that converts brewery wastewater and carbon emissions into valuable compounds such as phycocyanin, biogas, and biochar — all achieved without expensive harvesting or drying processes. My extensive expertise encompasses algal physiology, gene expression analysis, bioinformatics, and biomass valorization. I have published in esteemed journals and guided students worldwide. Through my endeavors, I strive to connect science, sustainability, and innovation to create a cleaner future.
